CD Arrogance?Arrogance by a few CD's? You can count on it, and they make it bad for everyone. One of the things every CD strives for is to LOOK as female as possible. It just is. Most realize that it isn't likely to happen and can accept that, but there are definitely a few who can pass and do so very well. Others can not only pass physically but also socially and to their credit, it is a feather in their cap; as long as it doesn't go to their head and for some it truly does. A crossdresser acquaintance once commented that you can always tell a CD by the ever present camera they have pointed at themselves. This is certainly an oversimplification but none the less there is a great deal of truth to it at least in part. While many will take pictures and ask for help to improve things, there are others whose vanity does get in the way of their objectivity. These are the few people who can really stir up a social networking site particularly when they actually begin comparing themselves to the looks of a natal female. This is arrogance of the highest order. First, natal women like men come in all stripes of appearance. For any CD to state they look better than a natal female is of course narcissism. What is the point? The idea is to be able to emulate the female of the species, not replace her. These vain attempts at boasting are beyond the realm of realistic expectations. I once met a "gurl" whose entire reason for dressing was to go out in public dressed like a hooker and see how many "wolf whistles" she could get. Other than being extremely dangerous, one has to wonder exactly what the motivation was. Obviously I had little in common with this person. This is exactly the type of bahaviour and attitude that gives the trans community a bad name. Natal females are offended by these kinds of statements and with good reason; it is an insult. While not directed specifically, it is easily taken personally and often is. Equally, most CD's are equally abhorrent. The CD community wants the support of the cisgendered community and yet these types of attitude are exactly the catalysts to ignite the dissent and maintain the split between the cisgender and trans communities. It is absolutely not wanted by our community but unfortunately those who carry out this sort of attitude, just dont see it in themselves.
